Hi Everyone! We are beginning our first post with Cafe ACKC located near U-Street Cardozo.
Hot Drinks 5/5
Cupcakes 4/5
Atmosphere 4.5/5
Bathroom 5/5!
The ACKC Cafe represents itself as a cozy little cafe near U Street specializing in chocolate! Automatically, this cafe separates itself from the crowd by being one of the few (only 5) chocolate cafes in the district.
Specializing in hot chocolates with "diva" and "celebrity" inspired drinks, the baristas at ACKC definitely knew how to add little twists to their chocolate creations. Ranging from over 30 different kinds of chocolates, our brave reviewers at EatOut Gw tried out the "Liz Taylor" hot chocolate. The "Liz Taylor" was a unique blend of lavender leaves with melted hazelnut dark chocolates finished up with a slight sprinkle of crushed pistachios. The drink itself was very chocolaty with a hint lavender which finished off very well with the distinctive tastes of crushed pistachios.
The cupcakes at ACKC, although not their forte, were still very good. Our reviewers tried the "Pamela", which was a dark chocolate hazelnut souffle cupcake topped with whipped cream frosting drizzled over by melted caramel sauce. We gave the taste a 5/5 but the consistency got a 4/5 due to how hard it was. Although the cupcake tasted exceptional, "Pamela" obviously sat in the bakery way to long.
And don't forget, when you visit, this cafe is half chocolate store and half cafe. Overall, we definitely recommend this place to our fellow chocolate lovers!
